A very warm welcome to the Institute of Hotel Security Management, we appreciate you taking the time to join us.

We are a collaborative working partnership formed of security professionals directly employed within the hotel and catering industry within the UK. We also maintain very close working relationships with various law enforcement and business crime reduction partnerships as Associate Members of IHSM.

Membership Levels

  • Annual Membership fee: £90.00
    Full Membership is restricted to those responsible for the management of security within the hotel and catering industry. An applicant will be required to show that they are in full time employment with a Hotel, Group of Hotels or Catering Company and is responsible for the security operation. Persons employed on a part time basis, or as consultants, or in some other advisory capacity are eligible for full membership unless the circumstances dictate that there is a conflict with the Institute or any of its members. An applicant who is employed by a Contract Security Company but is responsible for security within a Hotel, Group of Hotels or Catering Company are also eligible for full membership.
    This includes:
    ● Access to the Institute Website
    ● Access and auto enrollment to Intelligence Circulations
    ● Access to the Institute WhatsApp Group
    ● Access to the Institute meetings and AGM which include guest speakers and presenters on current security matters
    ● Voting rights within the Institute More Information
  • Associate Annual Membership fee: £45.00 Associate Members are subject to the same rules as Full members but have no voting rights. The transmission of the IHSM monthly minutes and similar correspondence to associate members outside of the United Kingdom shall be at the Chairman’s and Secretary’s discretion.
    This includes:
    ● Access to the Institute Website
    ● Access and auto enrolment to Intelligence Circulations
    ● Access to the Institute WhatsApp Group
    ● Access to the Institute meetings and AGM which include guest speakers and presenters on current security matters More Information
  • Annual Membership fee: £45.00 The IHSM also extends an offer of Partnership level membership. This may include but not limited to: General Managers, Operations Managers, Managing Directors (or suitable person(s) as delegated) of hotels within the UK. Partnership members are subject to the same rules as Associate Members but may not attend regular meetings without prior committee approval.) The transmission of the IHSM monthly minutes and similar correspondence to associate members outside of the United Kingdom shall be at the Chairman’s and Secretary’s discretion.

  • Annual Membership fee: £40.00 The Associate YP membership is one way in which IHSM is working to support career aspirations of young professionals and to motivate those who may otherwise not engage towards career goals. It requires that the applicant meets a certain criteria and must always be wholly supported by the direct line report (IHSM Member): More Information

Founded in 1987 we proudly celebrated our 30th year in 2017. The organisation was formed as a result of the amalgamation of the Association of Hotel Security Managers and The Guild of Hotel Security Managers, both of whom had been operating since 1975. Since 1987 our members have come together to share their experiences, knowledge & expertise, offer advice and enjoy a mutual support network which collectively seeks to achieve the highest standards of service excellence.
